The Cost of Being The Nina Freelance Boss

When going thorough your project missions as a Ninja Freelancer, there are a few things you may want to consider when setting your fees for your services.

· What’s Your Level of Knack Know How: Initially when starting out as a Ninja Freelancer you may want to consider charging less in order to get the business and build your portfolio. This tactic allows you to be more competitive with your fellow Ninja market who may be more experienced than you. Your fee should be based on your level of know how and experience. Do an honest evaluation of your work against other Ninja Freelancers prior to setting your fees with the on going market rate. Be sure you measure up to that market. With the same respect if you are more seasoned, be sure to get what your worth based on your experience and the vast types of projects and clients you have worked with in the past. If you consistently diversify and keep your skill sets up to date this allows you to expand on the services you offer and again helps keeps you more competitive in order to get the maximum dollar.

· Effectively Evaluating Cost: Ninja’s you never want to be in a situation where you paying out more to do the project than you are receiving to actually complete it. There should always be a profit or an opportunity to make a profit or there is not point. Be sure to take into account all the materials used and add that into your cost. Take note of billable hours spent, possible mileage used, materials required and long distance calls made etc. etc.

· Positioning Your Rates: Your rates should always be determined by what’s going on in the market like any given business. What the market’s demand at the given moment? It may seem easier to have set rates for your services but from time to time you may have to offer specials or discounts during times when the market is saturated with designers and projects are scarce. It’s really all about supply and demand. In an environment where there are more clients you have the flexibility to price your rate for services a bit more. Again pay attention to what is going on with your industry, pay attention to client trends and always be aware what the other Ninja Freelancers are doing to stay above ground and carry out their missions successfully.
